Range Gun Rental Rules & Information

At Whispering Pines Tactical Outdoor Firing Range (WPTOFR), we understand that purchasing a new handgun, rifle, or shotgun is a big decision, so whether you are interested in purchasing a specific firearm model or are unsure where to start, our firearm experts can help.

Our Range offers a wide selection of firearms and accessories to rent (Sig Sauer, Shadow Systems, Taurus, HUXWRX, Springfield, Smith & Wesson), giving customers a unique experience and helping them find the perfect firearm before making a purchase. Eye & ear protection will be available for rent while at the range or customers may use their own.

Whether you are new or experienced, firearm safety is always our top priority at WPTOFR. To ensure our customers remain safe and have the most enjoyable rental shooting experience possible, an NRA Certified Range Safety Officer (RSO) will be present during ALL live fire activities.

The RSO can provide assistance, if needed, enforce all range safety rules, and have the final say over the safety of all personnel on the range.

Gun Range & Rental Rules

• Every customer must have an annual up-to-date liability waiver on file; and current paid range maintenance fees to use the range and rent firearms.
• First time visitors to WPTOFR must be accompanied by a current range member shooter to rent firearms & accessories.
• Outside ammunition is NOT authorized for use with any WPTOFR rental firearm. Customers must purchase their ammunition at the time of their rental, on location.
• All firearms must be holstered, have a rifle/pistol chamber safety flag (available at the range) in the chamber and/or cased while entering, exiting, or on the premises, unless you are in your shooting stall.
• Eye and ear protection are mandatory while on the range.
• Do not bring food, drinks, or vaping and tobacco products on to the range.
• Never cross the firing line for any reason. Alert the RSO to help retrieve a fallen item.
• All commands issued by the RSO are final and to be obeyed. If you observe any unsafe situation alert the RSO immediately.
• All gun safety rules must be followed inside the range.
• Good trigger discipline* shall be enforced by the RSO at ALL times.

* Trigger discipline is a state of mind where the shooter keeps his or her finger outside of the trigger guard area, usually pressing it against the frame above the trigger area and parallel with the barrel, until ready to fire the firearm.
